AREOPOLI

The settlement of Areopolis is located just 1.3 km from our hotel! It is characterized by the unique natural beauty of the landscape of Mani, at the foot of the mountain Profitis Elias of Sagia, as well as by the picturesque houses of the settlement built with the authentic traditional Mani architecture. In the center of the city is the historic church of Taxiarches which dates from the 18th century as well as the stone which served as a support for the Greek flag during the Revolution of `21. It is the largest settlement and capital of Mesa Mani. In Areopolis you will find sites of historical interest, pre-revolutionary and post-revolutionary (large and historically interesting houses, houses of prominent families). The hospitality of the settlement is one of its main characteristics.

DIROU CAVES

It is characterized as the most beautiful system of lake caves in the world. It consists of three caves: Alepotripa, Katafygi, and Vlychada which can be visited. They were first explored in 1950 by the Petrochilos pair of speleologists. The temperature inside ranges from 16-20ο C and in the water 12ο C. Tours are made in small boats by boatmen that guide you in the history of the cave. The length of the tourist route is 1,200 meters on the lake and 300 meters by land, while the duration of the visit is 20΄ – 25΄ minutes by boat and another 5΄ – 10΄ on foot.
The Neolithic Museum, located near the cave, exhibits valuable historical finds from the Paleolithic period. Diros caves and the Neolithic Museum are some of the most important attractions for visitors in Mani.

LIMENI

Just 5 km from Areopolis and 5.3 km from our hotel, you will find Limeni – one of the most beautiful seaside villages of Mani in Laconia. The rocky coast of the village will provide a unique natural beauty, characteristic to Mani, with picturesque stone houses on the water, as well as taverns, making it the ideal destination for an afternoon stroll. In Limeni you will also find several sights of historical interest, such as the Petrobei Palace. Also worth visiting are the local traditional churches, such as the chapel of AgiosSostis, the church of Agios Nikolaos, and the ruins of the church of Panagia Bretis.
